Getting Around

Places of Attraction

There is much to see and do in Singapore. You can experience the richness of the arts and entertainment or explore the nature and wildlife or shop in the ever-popular Orchard Road from day to night or just sit down to enjoy the variety of sumptuous food that Singapore offers. There are four official languages in Singapore: English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Most Singaporeans speak English in addition to their own Mother Tongue or dialects. The signages in Singapore are mainly in English.

Weather / Time Difference

Singapore enjoys a warm tropical weather with occasional rain throughout the year. The average temperature is around 28 degree Celsius. The wettest months are from November to January and the hottest months are July and August. Singapore is eight hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Currency / Currency Exchange

Major credit and charge cards are widely accepted. The local currency is the Singapore dollar and cents. Foreign currencies can be changed either in banks or with moneychangers conveniently located island wide at major shopping centres and airports.

Electricity / Water

Electricity used in Singapore is 220 to 240 volts AC, 50Hz. On request, most hotels can provide transformers/adapters to guests to convert electrical appliances from 110-120AC, 60 Hz to the local voltage.

Singapore is known for its safe and clean drinking water. Therefore tap water need not be boiled as it is safe for drinking. Bottled and mineral water are also readily available in supermarkets or convenience stores located island wide.
